Blake finally found his words again. “I promise I won’t start a war with you just to keep us busy.”

“I’ll make sure he behaves,” Niev reassured Seth as she ended the hug.

“I believe I’ll have to call you Luna Niev from now on.”

“I didn’t even think of that.”

They started walking down the hill back to the village. Blake watched as Seth and Niev joked with each other, loving how much they got along, but regretting it at the same time. Though he was happy they adjusted to each other, it would make her transition that much harder.

Blake and Niev decided to stay home the rest of the day resting and cuddling. He found Niev standing in the nursery a few times, picking up the girls’ belongings before putting them back down. It seemed as if she wanted to pack but wasn’t ready to do so.

When she glanced up and saw him, she looked guilty. “I just can’t do it. I know I have to, but I love this room so much that I can’t pack it up.”

“There is no need to do it right now. I was thinking of going back to organize your arrival there before coming here and starting our move. Only if you feel comfortable being without me for a few days.”

“I think that would help. I can’t help but picture a run-down house that I have to move into.”

“I won’t let that happen.”

She reached her hand out for him, and he quickly stepped closer, weaving his fingers with hers. “I know you won’t. I know you’ll take care of everything, and I don’t want you to think that I doubt that. It’s just… I don’t know…”

“You fell in love with this place and now you have to leave it.”

“Yes.”

“This is your first love. Well, besides me,” he joked.

“I like the Mountain Village. It’s gorgeous but I wish we could have both.”

“You can. Mother and Father will always have their doors open for you and just like we visited Ann, you always have a home here too.”

She kissed his cheek. “Thank you.”

As they were eating dinner, a knock on the door made them look up. Blake quickly went to open the door and let his father inside.

“I hope I’m not intruding.”

“Not at all.”

“I was hoping to speak with you both.”

“Of course.” Blake nodded toward an empty chair and sat back down.

His father leaned back as he sat down and gently smiled at them. “I’ve talked to Alpha Raymond, and it seems that you two have left quite an impression on him. Though I think you got him quite worried, Niev. He asked how you were doing.”

“I got a little overwhelmed, that’s all. Their midwife, Natalie, checked on me and said all is well with the babies.”

“Understandable. Your life has changed quite a bit since you’ve entered our world and I made sure to let him know that. I know you’re a very strong woman, and that Blake would never let anything happen to you, but I want Alpha Raymond to understand your situation.”

“Thank you.”

“He has assured me that he’ll treat you both as his children. I just want you to know that our doors will always be open to you. You two will forever have a home here.”

“Thank you, Father.”

“I would like to go see him before you two move. I know time is not on our side, but I wanted to see how you two get along. This isn’t just me giving my daughter away, but you taking a role that you haven’t been properly trained to do. A role I never prepared you for.” His last words were full of regret.

“Blake wanted to go down there soon anyway to prepare for our arrival.”
