“I have and that would be lovely.”

“You’ll be in great hands. I have no doubt about that.”

Though Niev tried to be brave and blink away the tears, she couldn’t help them from spilling. “I was just settling in and now all is new again. I want this move, but I also wish I could stay.”

Christa stood up and moved to sit next to Niev. Taking her hand in hers, she soothingly ran her thumb over her knuckles. “I understand and this must be hard for you. Though you won’t live here, you’ll always have a home to come back to.”

“I know.” Niev took a long, deep breath. “I guess it’s just a lot to take in and I was so set on living the rest of my life here that it’s hard to let go.”

“And there is nothing wrong with that. Have you talked to Blake about this? Being open with one another is very important right now.”

“I have and he knows how I feel. He’s been great, trying to make sure that our move goes smoothly without much pressure on me.”

“Do I assume correctly that he left with Alpha Tanner last night?”

“Yes. He wanted to go and prepare for our arrival.”

“Niev, please know that I’m proud of you. Everything you’ve been through astonishes me. You’re a strong woman and this will only help you grow stronger.”

Christa’s words came unexpectedly and warmed Niev’s heart. They were words that she’d always hoped to hear from her mother. She pulled Christa into a tight hug, her soul full of love for the woman who had accepted her without a second thought. She’d never questioned Niev and had always stood by her side, wanting nothing but the best for her.

“Thank you.”

“You do have to promise me two things though.”

Niev leaned back and wiped her tears.

“You have to continue your studies. Though I’m sure you’ll have lots on your hands as luna, your gift and learning its secret will be your greatest strength.”

Niev nodded. “I will.”

“And you’ll have to accept me as your guest after Aruna and Emlyn have arrived.”

“Of course!”

“Very well then, I’ll give you my blessing.”

Christa handed her some tissues before brewing some tea. While Niev was drinking her tea, Christa pulled out a few books to take with her.

“Are you sure you don’t need these?”

“They’ll be in much better hands with you.”

Niev left Christa’s cabin with a smile on her face. She’d been afraid that Christa would be upset about her leaving, thinking that she’d wasted her time teaching her.

After taking the books home, Niev walked to Olivia’s and knocked on her door, excited to see what she’d done with their new home.

Olivia opened the door and Niev stepped in. The house was a little smaller than her own, but very homey. Olivia seemed to have a special touch.

“It looks so nice and homey. I love what you two have done with it!”

“Thank you.”

On the coffee table in front of the couch, Olivia had already set out some notes. Niev studied them as she sat down.

“Would you like something to drink?”

“Just water for now.”
