She nodded and looked back down. “They took more land than I thought.”

“It seems as if they tried to adjust it to the terrain surrounding them, giving them natural borders.”

“Or better protection.”

“Yes.”

She lifted the map and underneath found an old copy of a contract. As she tried to decipher it, triumph grew within her. It was a contract between Alpha Vallerian’s father and another man to buy his land.

“Where is this land?”

Benjamin pointed at the north end of the map. “It’s farmland that they now rent to a farmer, but it still belongs to them.”

“So, they make money off it?”

“I wasn’t able to find anything specific but to my knowledge it passed to Alpha Vallerian after his father died.”

She couldn’t help but smile. This gave her so much more leverage on top of what she’d already known.

“Kendra, may I ask why you need all of this?”

“Let’s say it’s personal.”

“To you or your family?”

“Me.”

He nodded and pointed at another letter. “I believe he’s looking to purchase another piece of land in a new development. It’s further away but it still counts, right?”

It was a copy of an application signed by Alpha Vallerian for a new construction site of apartment buildings. “How did you find this?”

“I have my ways, but I couldn’t get the originals to any of these. I didn’t want to cause suspicion.”

She sighed in relief, and also pure happiness. If she used these correctly, she would get Ryker back. Tears started to spill from her eyes.

“I owe you,” she whispered, looking up at Benjamin.

“Technically you don’t. You’re my luna-to-be, serving you is my job.”

“Maybe, but I didn’t let you see Kent’s face when he figured out I was the heir.”

“Yeah, I might never forgive you for that.”

She looked down at the papers. “Can you keep these for me?”

“Yes.”

She leaned her head back and looked at the ceiling in an attempt to ease her tears.

“Will you use this on him?”

She nodded, unable to find her words.

“Will it reveal why it’s so personal?”

She nodded again. “I will try and have you there if I can, but I can’t make any promises.”

He gave a grunt that must have been an affirmation and grabbed the stack of papers, tucking them away in an envelope.
