My eyes trailed the room, watching for Ro on instinct, but it was Shawn who started calling me toward him. He and I had connected the previous morning before Ro interrupted, and I quickly found out using Shawn wouldn’t work—I wasn’t his type. He and I both agreed Nurse Ro was a hot piece of ass, though.

Ro had no idea Shawn was gay, and I didn’t bother correcting him. He pitched a fucking fit whenever I fawned over him, and maybe it was simply one more thing I could use to drive Ro into doing what I wanted.

“Hey.” I leaned in to kiss Shawn’s cheek as he hugged me.

“Didn’t see you after Nurse Hottie stole you away yesterday. I was kind of worried. He seemed like he was Nurse Pissy Pants when he grabbed you.”

“He is Nurse Pissy Pants,” I mumbled, not returning Shawn’s playful disposition.

“Tell me everything.” He folded his arms over each other and leaned on the table where we were sitting across from each other.

I liked Shawn a lot, but I wasn’t ready to share what Ro and I had. The dark and the light, the fucked up and the easy, it was all something I wanted to keep to myself. It was our secret for now. But Shawn needed something from me because I felt he was the type to pry until he knew everything.

“Apparently, he’s been assigned to my detail. We had to go horseback riding.” I rolled my eyes and tried not to flush at the memory of what else happened yesterday.

“Ew.” Shawn drew back and sniffed like something stunk. “He may be hot, but he is probably hell to be around all day.”

“Yeah, exactly.” I nodded. “That’s why I showered and headed straight to bed afterward. He’s exhausting.”

Maybe it wasn’t the right choice of words, but they were true.

Luckily, the conversation moved on from Ro to other gossip around the house. None of it mattered to me, so I didn’t pay much attention. I watched Shawn animatedly tell me all the news, and it was worth my patience. Plus, food had finally been set in front of me, and I missed all my meals but breakfast yesterday, so I was starving.

From the corner of my eye, I saw someone walk in, and I glanced over to see Ro, scanning the room—no doubt for me. My breathing grew heavy, and my clit started to pulse at the memory of his fingers inside me. It’d been on a repeat track in my mind since it happened.

I might have woken up with a clearer mind, but it meant I clearly knew how fucking amazing it felt to be the one getting Ro’s attention. A part of me could tell he wasn’t searching for a repeat, and it was a damn shame. Ro was definitely trying to give me a zero fucks vibe.

Unlike me, who had nothing to lose and didn’t care about who he was or what I did, he had something he was living for, and I didn’t think I was worth the risk to him.

Still, I reached across the table and took Shawn’s hands before Ro could find me staring. Once he saw me, he would see I was fine, unaffected, and in the hands of a man just as sexy as he was.

Shawn didn’t even bat an eyelash at the movement. He took my hands and started telling me what a queen I was. My hair was up high, and I was in soft shorts and a tank top. There wasn’t much in the way of feeling like a queen, but Shawn said it was my glow. A glow I didn’t have the day before.

That would be thanks to a Ro-induced orgasm,I smirked to myself.

Shawn kept talking, but it was only a few more minutes before a shadow was cast over the table, and we both moved our focus up. As if Shawn knew, he lost the obvious lilt in his voice and used a deeper, more manly tone when he addressed Ro.

“Can we help you?” he asked gruffly.

“You can't. She can.” Ro pointed at me without ever taking a minute to see Shawn.

I rolled my eyes. “Surely, we don’t have to be pals first thing in the morning, right?”

Ro shrugged and squinted his eyes before leaning closer to talk to me. “We don’t have to be pals at all. But we have shit to do, and you will fucking do it without being a bitch today.”

Shawn heard him, but Ro didn’t seem to care. He was staring at me, daring me to defy what he was saying. He leaned up and tossed a paper into my hands before walking off and out the side door leading to the pool.

Out of sight, Shawn took a deep breath and whispered, “Just as I suspected.”

But I didn’t give him an answer. I simply opened the paper Ro had tossed to me.

It was a schedule for all the dumb shit we had to do, and it was signed by Lisa. There was a note at the bottom addressed to Ro,“Here are today's activities with Miss Carrington. Should you have any trouble, we can do therapy sessions and try these tomorrow.”

I guess Ro was right. We had a whole day of bullshit to get through because I was not boring myself with a therapy session if I could help it. If I knew Ro, he wasn't willing to put this off until tomorrow. So, we were both being forced into this bullshit list, starting with swimming laps together in the pool.

Shawn peeked over at the list and scoffed, “Better run and get the suit on, honey. Hope it's little.”

I smiled at him, relieved he could read between a few of the lines without me having to explain. I stood and kissed his cheek goodbye before making my way upstairs to change into my suit.
