She looks different, and I don't just mean her hair.
“Yes, well I was hoping to talk to Kane,” I mutter, taking a step away from her as she reaches for my arm.
“How are you? How are Wells and Don?” she asks and for just one moment, I actually believe that she doesn't know the damage she's caused, but that's not possible.
My body vibrates with anger and how much I hate her. Kane steps between us, and he gives me a look. A warning.
“Love, why don't you go find Michel and toss the ball around?” he suggests, and Silver glances at him, her eyebrows furrowed, but nods.
“Good girl,” Kane says, then leans down and kisses her forehead before she walks off into the castle somewhere.
I scoff, and Kane turns back to me. His eyes are red, and he's trying to hold back his anger.
“I shouldn't be surprised you're sleeping with her,” I mutter, then chuckle, shaking my head. “I should have never come here. Just send me back to the Academy.”
“Arrow, stop! You can lie all you want, but I can smell the lust leaking from your pores.”
“Yeah, well she's always had that effect on me, but it doesn't matter anymore. She ruined my life. Our lives. I'd rather deal with my crazy ex then stay here.”
Kane sighs, then snaps his fingers and I'm back at the cottage. “Wow,” Mylie says as I stumble and sit on the couch.
Damn that was a headspin.
“Can you teach me to do that?” Mylie asks, and I shake my head.
“You have to be very powerful to transport someone without a portal,” I mumble, then sigh and stand.
“Oh, Arrow, there you are. I kicked out your little houseguest, and I know that we are just staying here until Donovan returns, but I do have an impressionable daughter, so please if I could ask you not to bring around strange women…”
Myah trails off and I shake my head. What is she going on about?
“Huh?”
“A woman stormed out of your room, spitting mad and started going off on me. I think she believes I'm your girlfriend or something, but I kicked her out. She's rather rude.”
“Yeah, she's not welcome here anymore and after classes I'll put some wards around to prevent her from coming near the cottage.”
“Thanks. Well I'm off. I have an interview today, and Mylie has school,” she says, moving closer to me and patting me on the cheek.
“I won't be home tonight. I have a…” I glance at Mylie and she's giving me a big smile. “A ‘meeting’ later.”
Myah nods, then takes Mylie's hand, and they leave. My phone buzzes and I ignore my father's call. I'm already late for class.
Graduation goes on without a hitch, and it's bittersweet. My boys should be standing beside me. This isn't fair.
I go out to eat to celebrate with Jade, Clara and Myah. They try to convince me to go to the afterparty, but I'm not in the mood.
Instead I find myself in Wellson's room. A circle of chalk around his bed and candles placed strategically.
It's been a long time since I've tried to talk to the Spirits, but I'm desperate.
Jade walks in with the sacrificial dagger we use for meetings, and I offer her my hand.
Slicing a small cut on my palm, I drip the blood over the flame of the black candle.
A blue smoke erupts, filling the room, and Jade begins to chant. Closing my eyes, I fight to see anything.
I'm about to give up when I get a flash. It's Silver sitting on a bed, eating chocolate-covered strawberries, but it's in a weird angle as if Donovan is below her… Or very tiny.
