“Still not going to tell me what we’re doing?”

“Nope.”

“Ugh. I hate surprises.”

“Liar.”

We say goodbye to each other and I get back to work, wanting to finish early so I can get ready for tonight.

When it’s time to leave, I damn near run to my truck, not wanting to get stuck talking to anyone and drawing out the day.

My siblings have already been razzing me all day as if I’m a teenager getting ready for my first date. Then again, with how nervous I feel, they’re not too far off. I have the evening all planned out and hope she’ll like it. Sure, I could take her out to dinner, but that’s too easy.

Once home, I quickly go through my workout routine, shower, dress in a pair of light colored jeans, a black long sleeve Henley, and slip on my Hey Dudes then grab the small box I had packed up last night and head out. I told Naomi to dress casually as well, wanting both of us to be comfortable for the night.

My stomach is jumping by the time I arrive at Naomi’s. My nerves aren’t from actual nervousness, they’re from wanting tonight to be perfect.

I grab the gift bag and the box off my front seat and head to the front door, ringing the doorbell and only having to wait exactly six seconds before the most beautiful girl in the world opens the door and smiles at me.

“Hey, you.”

“Hey back. Come on in,” she says, opening the door wider.

I step through and wrap an arm around her waist, placing my hand on her lower back, pulling her flush against me, and pressing my lips against hers. She opens immediately and I don’t hesitate to twist my tongue with hers. She eagerly joins me, giving me as much as I’m giving her. I lean in deeper, bending her over the arm I have behind her back and she grips my shoulders, holding tight.

She tastes like the mint from her toothpaste and absolute heaven.

Kissing her is like a dream I never want to wake up from.

When we separate, I lift her so she’s standing upright again and she fans her face. “Whew. That was one heck of a hello.”

“You look gorgeous.”

She flushes a deep shade of pink but tosses a hand with a roll of her eyes and says playfully, “Oh, stop.”

Chuckling, I step back so I can get a full look at her. Her jeans are tight in all the right places and flare at the bottom. Her light green shirt is too sexy for words. Fitted with a little zipper in the front only a few inches long. Her makeup is light, showcasing her natural beauty, and her hair is down and full of curls.

“Seriously gorgeous.”

“You’re not looking too bad yourself.”

I strike a pose, flexing my biceps. “Like what you see?” I turn around and make a point to show off my ass and she starts laughing. Perfect start to what I hope is the perfect first date.

“I’ve got something for you,” I tell her, handing her the gift bag.

“Ooh. Presents?”

“Well, I was going to give you flowers but…”

She’s already tearing into the bag, tossing the tissue paper on the floor and pulling out the book I bought for her.

She gasps when she sees it, pulls it to her chest and cradles it, then opens it up and gasps again. “You had it signed? How did you get this!?” Then she feels there’s something else in the bag and reaches in, gasping again. “A t-shirt, too! Eeek! I love it! But seriously, how did you get this? I didn’t think she had signed books for sale.”

I shrug. “I have my ways.”

“Brock! This is incredible. How did you know I loved this book?”

“Corbin,” I admit. “She told me about it a few months ago, actually, after I saw her reading it, too.”
