“Yes. I should’ve never left you.”
“Did you get Raymond?” Valerie asked in a worried tone.
“Yes. Your mom will bring him soon.” I breathed Brynne’s scent into my soul. If I’d found her in the parking lot with the other dead people, I would’ve gone insane.
Valerie sagged on the bed. “I can’t wait to see him.”
“Please tell me you got Dorian. I need to know we’re all safe and get back to living a normal life.” Brynne rested her head against my chest.
“Yes, baby. We got him.” I massaged her nape. “Soon, we’ll be free to do as we please.”
“I love you,” she whispered.
“Love you too, baby.”
Valerie sighed. “I’m okay with you guys being together.”
“Really?” I could tell she seemed better about it. Maddox had mentioned talking to her after she’d run out of the clubhouse. I was grateful for his help.
“Mhm. It doesn’t weird me out anymore.”
“What if I told you we’re having a baby?” I probably should’ve saved that news for another time, but I was tired of hiding my love for my gorgeous woman.
“I guess it’s fine. But you should get married.” Valerie smiled at me.
“We will as soon as we can.”
“Can I be a junior bride? I’m too old to be a flower girl.” Her dark eyes sparkled for the first time since we’d returned to Minnesota. I was sure it had everything to do with knowing Raymond was safe.
“Brynne, Valerie? Raymond wants to see you. Come out into the sitting area,” Tina called.
Valerie flew off the bed.
“Oh boy, this should be interesting.” Brynne grimaced.
“It’ll be fine, Bonita.” It had to be okay because I was never giving her up.

He squeezed me tightly. “I didn’t think I’d ever meet you. Or see my mom and dad again.”
“What about me?” Valerie asked, like she was offended he hadn’t mentioned her.
Raymond pulled back and tilted his head. “And you.”
Oh, my heart. They were so cute together. “I’m so happy to meet you, Raymond. God, I’m sorry Dorian took you.” A tear rolled down my face.
“Yeah, it wasn’t fun.” He sat next to our mom. “I’m so tired and hungry.”
“I’ll get you some food,” Joseph said. “I won’t be long.”
My heart stuttered, not ready for him to leave.
“I’ll watch over them,” Maddox told him.
“Thanks.” Joseph gripped his arm, then came to me. “Will you be okay?”
