She started sniffling again.

“I’m sorry, Mom. For…everything. I’ll do my best to come out there next week, and we can talk.”

“I’ll be waiting,” she said. “My sweet boy.”

CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE

Jude

Jude was sore. His legs hurt. His back hurt. His ass hurt.

Lying in bed naked, the morning sun pouring onto the sheets, he relived the night before in his head. The way it had felt to have Hawk’s big cock in his mouth, then up his ass. God, what that man did to him.

With a sigh, he rolled over and took a drink from the insulated water bottle he’d left beside the bed earlier. He looked over his shoulder when someone knocked softly on the door.

“Jude?”

“Come in,” Jude told Hawk, smiling.

Balancing a tray on one hand, Hawk kicked the door shut.

“Breakfast in bed?” Jude asked in wonder, sitting up as Hawk set the tray on the mattress. Pancakes with butter and syrup, sausages, and a steaming cup of coffee. Beside the plate, Hawk had laid a single purple flower.

“Yep. Surprised?”

Propping himself up on some pillows, Jude said, “Very. Thank you. Are you going to eat with me?”

“I had a couple of pancakes while I was making them, but I’ll sit with you.”

Glancing at Hawk, Jude said, “You’re a little overdressed.”

“I can solve that.” Hawk reached behind his neck and pulled his T-shirt off, then wiggled out of his jeans and underwear before climbing under the sheet with Jude.

“The way you’re sucking on that sausage while you watch me get naked is damned sexy,” Hawk said, voice deep as he dipped his mouth to Jude’s neck and nibbled.

“I thought you might sleep in. I woke up around eleven last night and you weren’t here. Then felt you get into bed later, but I have no idea what time that was.”

“About one. I couldn’t sleep. I talked to Jase for a while, and then I…”

When Hawk hesitated, Jude stopped eating and looked at him. “What?”

Hawk swallowed. “I, uh, made a call. To my mom.”

“Yeah?” Jude wasn’t sure where this was going. In their time together, Hawk had rarely spoken to his parents.

“I have some time owed to me, and I want to go see my family.”

Carefully, Jude schooled his expression and said, “You should, then.” Hawk was leaving him? Now?

“I want you to go with me,” Hawk said.

Jude dropped his fork, then scrambled to get it before it fell off the tray onto the sheets.

“Jude.” Placing his hand on Jude’s sheet-covered knee, Hawk stilled Jude’s wiggling. “Please come with me to Grand Rapids and meet my family.”

Jude knew Hawk had parents, a sister, and a twin brother who died when they were young. That was the extent of his knowledge. Any attempts back when they were together to learn more had gotten him nothing but vague answers. If he hadn’t seen pictures in Hawk’s wallet, he’d think they didn’t exist.

“Why?” he asked. It might seem like an odd question to some, but Hawk should understand why he asked.
