“He’s hiding in Carson City. Or he was before he checked out of a motel this morning. Used his fucking credit card. The fool.”
“Good for us, though.”
Xenon nodded. “He’s in serious debt. His financials are fucked. Owed the Scorpions twenty grand. Here’s the kicker, and you’re not gonna like it, V.P.”
Fuck. “Tell me.”
“Tommy planned to hand over his wife to settle the debt. The day Kate died is the same day he was supposed to bring her to Razr’s new S.A.A. Guy goes by the name of Slither.”
A roar left my chest as my fists clenched.
“Mammoth,” Rael cautioned, “Keep your head on straight. She’s here. Rowen and Jacob are safe.”
Yeah. Not good enough. I had to hold them to be sure. See them. Smell them. The Reaper had to be buried inside our woman to know for sure no one would take her from us.
The fucking Bloody Scorpions worked with a notorious human trafficking ring in Nevada. They were responsible for shipping off a van of missing girls to the Russians. Thinking of Rowen and Jacob being caught up in that terrified me.
“Where’s Tommy now?” I asked with a growl.
“Used his credit card in Hawthorne for gas and food about three hours ago.”
“He’s coming our way,” I surmised.
“Yeah. Lookin’ like it.”
“Keep watch. If anything else turns up, let me know.”
“You got it, Mammoth.” Xenon trudged back upstairs and shut the door.
I turned to Rael. “This is useless. They’ve got nothing else to offer.”
Dag and Killer began talking, spouting off shit as they tried to convince us they should live. They wouldn’t survive beyond tonight, but we didn’t say that. Later, once shit was sorted with Tommy, all three of them would be reaped together.
I wasn’t fucking around or leaving these assholes to bring more trouble later.
My phone buzzed inside my cut, and I reached inside, pulling out my cell to glance at the screen. I wasn’t picking up for anyone other than Grim or Rowen.
A smile lifted my lips when I saw Ro’s name. “Miss me already, Gorgeous?”
Just thinking of the how we spent the night had my dick hard in seconds.
“Waylen,” she sobbed into the phone.
My heart stuttered. I never heard her cry out like that before, so lost, broken, and defeated. She sounded like she was on the verge of breaking down.
“Babe. Where are you?”
“Outside. I can’t find Jacob.”
A chill broke out across my skin. “What?”
“He’s missing. My boy is missing!”
“I’ll be right there. Don’t move. I’m coming, Ro. We’ll find him. I swear to fuck, we will.”
My feet pounded the stairs as I raced up to the ground floor, through the bar, and out to the parking lot.
Rowen stood in the center, clutching her phone, her eyes wild. “Jakey.”
